Storyline
Everyone is the architect of their own happiness. What is the guiding principle of our society is in reality an illusion. The film shows the areas in which a person's social background, rather than their own performance, plays a role in their success. The film begins with the family, which influences the conditions under which a child starts out in life. It continues with the German education system. In hardly any other industrialized country is there such a close link between educational success and the parental home. And despite the shortage of skilled workers, the prospects of young people with few opportunities on the training market are also poor. One approach that aims to create more equal opportunities for young people is the basic heritage.
