Storyline

A twelve-year-old Michal was born with a cleft lip. He feels inadequate because of his deformed face. His only friend Ondra convinces him to join a street gang to finally break free from the position of an outsider. Two friends have one afternoon to show they have what it takes to pass the admission to the gang. Michal desperately wants to prove he is good enough, but the tempting adventure suddenly turns into an initiation ritual into adulthood.

About the film/director

Damián Vondrášekis currently finishing studies of Directing at FAMU. His first short Together (2015) took the Best Director award at Famufest. Imprisoned (2016) was selected by SanSebastian IFF and Karlovy Vary IFF, also nominated for the best student film at the Czech Lion Awards. Frontier (2020) premiered at Trieste and got two nominations at the Czech Lion Awards. His upcoming short Rites, supported by the Czech Film Fund and selected for Cannes Focus Script program and Midpoint Shorts, is now in post-production. His first feature Goddess is participating in the LIM development program organized by Le Groupe Ouest.
