Storyline
Sophia has been in a wheelchair since undergoing cancer treatment as a child. Her partner Mario and her assistance dog Jamie support her in her daily challenges. When asked if we could accompany her in her extraordinary everyday life, Sophia said: "...but my everyday life is nothing special." Even at a young age, Tom didn't want to be told what he couldn't do. At age 8, he lost a leg to cancer. "You are stronger than you think and can do anything! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!" he writes in his children's book, which is meant to encourage everyone to live their own lives and dreams. A quote from Roger Willemsen says, "Life cannot be prolonged, but we can condense it." This is exactly what the two protagonists of this film do. They live a condensed life. With their incredible energy, positive outlook on life and the courage to make their dreams come true, Tom and Sophia live a condensed life. Skiing, surfing, making music, writing a children's book, opening a photography studio, all this and much more is part of it. They live their dreams and lead a self-determined life. The two very different characters have their very own attitude towards life and their personal situation. But one thing unites them both. They are courageous and stick to their dreams - even or especially in difficult existential situations. With a lot of strength and positive energy they lead a fulfilled life. No matter where the road will lead them.
About the film/director
Born in 1968 in Hesse. Commercial training until 1996 as assistant to the management in various companies. For 25 years I have been working for and with children and adolescents with cancer in a university hospital and a support association for children with cancer. Among other things in the area of public relations and fundraising. In the context of my activity production of small fundraising films. Further training at various seminars, e.g. at the Medienbüro Hamburg and the Filmhaus Frankfurt.
