Jenseits der blauen Grenze
supporting film "Unter Segeln"
Storyline
Hanna gives up her big dream of competitive swimming in the GDR and flees across the Baltic Sea in the summer of 1989 with her best friend Andreas, who has been targeted by the state. Fifty kilometers of water separate them from freedom. And only a thin, connecting cord around her wrist saves her from absolute loneliness. The story of the young protagonists unfolds in flashbacks told from Hanna's perspective. Scenes that tell of the present, the desperate struggle through the water, constantly alternate with her memories.
