Storyline

The short film deals with the inner-German border between East and West Germany and shows both the strict security measures during the division of Germany into East and West Germany and the unique flora and fauna that has developed along today's “Green Belt.”

About the film/director

My name is Katja Friedrich and I was born and raised in Freiburg im Breisgau. From 2022 to 2026, I studied communication design at Trier University of Applied Sciences, including an Erasmus semester at the EASD in Valencia. My primary focus is experimental analogue 2D animation.

Tanti is an animated film capturing everyday moments in the life of the neighbor “Tanti.”

- AUGENBLICKE (2024)
The short film “AUGENBLICKE” was created using the grattage technique. It is animated frame by frame. In the film, a person observes their surroundings and becomes lost in their observations.

- Isolated (2025)
The short film addresses the inner-German border between East and West Germany and, through a interplay of images, depicts both the strict security measures in place during the division of Germany into East and West and the unique flora and fauna that has developed along today’s “Green Belt.”
