Gipfelträume

Storyline

The starting point of the documentary journey are the critical entries made by climbers in the summit books of Saxon Switzerland in the 1980s. GIPFELTRÄUME meets the authors and accompanies them as they climb the sandstone cliffs of Saxony, where they reflect on various aspects of freedom before and after the fall of the Wall. The film thus becomes a small puzzle piece of East German history.

About the film/director

Anna Theil (born 1977) grew up in Berlin. After graduating in geography and education, she followed her long-standing fascination for moving images and studied documentary film and editing at the FilmArche in Berlin.
Anna lives in Berlin and works as an editor and filmmaker. Her first freelance work as a director "Stumm" celebrated great success at international film festivals. With "Gipfelträume" another documentary work was realized.
