Freigang
(Selection of 2020 program)
Storyline
Kathi, a 25-year-old prison inmate, is released from a Vienna prison on her son's birthday. She finds her son, who lives with her overburdened mother in a small apartment, in a neglected state. The day turns into a tour de force and Kathi has to return to the prison in the early evening. She is forced to find a new place for her son until then and is confronted with her past more and more often. The result is a race against time and a struggle with personal needs.
About the director
Martin Winter was born in Leipzig, Germany, in 1983. Until 2019, he studied directing at the Vienna Film College (directing class: Michael Kreihsl).
