Fred & Pauline
Storyline
At a bus stop in the middle of nowhere, a man in his early 50s and a young 18-year-old woman meet by chance.
The two then form an unorthodox “walk & talk” community to the train station some 30 km away and, through interest and empathy, develop a tender friendship that leads them to a new, more conciliatory perspective on their respective lives.
While Pauline inspires Fred to forgive himself for the failures of the past and to tackle the things that he considers irreversibly neglected now, Fred - who recognizes his young alter ego in her - succeeds in leading Pauline from her resigned rejection of life and her cynicism to a positive attitude towards life. Just at the moment when both of them succeed in bringing “color” back into each other's perspective on life through sincere dedication and commitment and an honest friendship develops, color also returns to the film.
