Storyline

Confronted with her dementia, the old, stubborn Mrs. Fleischer stops eating - she wants to die on her own terms before “the boiler explodes”. Caregiver Alexandra is tasked and determined to make her eat. With creativity and great bellicosity, these not so dissimilar women challenge each other. Deliberately provocative, mischievously amused, but also with an increasing sense of understanding for each other's struggles, they grow closer. But who will win the battle?

About the film/director

Antje Ritter (1974), born and raised in Rostock, studied Theatre and Film Sciences at Humboldt University in Berlin. In 2001, she began her career in film and television productions, initially as a set manager and then as an assistant director. Here, she worked with renowned directors such as Sven Taddicken and Nico Sommer. With "Mrs. Fleischer Wants to Die!" she made her directorial debut. in 2023/24, followed by directorial work for WaPo Bodensee and SOKO Leipzig (German crime series).
