Der Autobus

Storyline

During one day at the end of the school year, different generations of differently frustrated characters, the bus driver Ján, the teacher, the trainee and teenage Emma, meet on a bus trip. After a series of conflicts between the provocative Emma and the angry Ján, the backgrounds of their lives are gradually revealed in the interior of the bus, and the generation gap is replaced by an unexpected closeness. Both are connected by an absent family and a sense of belonging, thanks to which they would be able to move on in life. The whole story is witnessed by the old Karosa, a bus that is a silent companion carrying the story of the people it transports.

About the film/director

Daniela Sláviková comes from Bratislava, Slovakia and after graduating from highschool, she pursued her directing and screenwriting studies at TBU in Zlin, Czech Republic. Her bachelor's film, Ipanema, was short-listed for Czech lion award. She has then earned her second bachelor's degree from Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava with her short film The Bus. She is now starting her first year of master’s at one-semester erasmus stay in Lisbon, Portugal.
