Chef

Storyline

The mail carrier Edith (52) is only called Chef by everyone. She runs the station and feels responsible for everything and everyone. Even for her dreamy colleague Lukáš (27), who has delivered an important parcel incorrectly. Chef tries to get the package back from Mrs Liebermann (75). But the lonely lady keeps the parcel to have some company. At least that is what Chef assumes. Unlike Lukáš, who always helps the woman with her household tasks and lets his work as a postman slide in return, Chef does not want to be taken in by her. Mrs Liebermann wants to convince Chef that Lukáš should not be fired. She pushes the ambitious woman to her limits in her search for the package.

About the film/director

Vera M. Schmidt began studying directing fiction at the Film Academy Baden-Wuerttemberg in 2020.
Previously, she was engaged as an actress at the Theater Krefeld and Moenchengladbach, for a duration of three years.
Here she had the possibility and great pleasure to work with many talented and renown directors, such as Dedi Baron, Rafat Alzakout and Ulrich Cyran. She was particularly thankful for the phenomenal experience of visiting Shingal (South Kurdistan, Iraq) in 2019, as part of an educational research expedition, concerning the rehearsals and performance of the play “Jin Jiyan”.
In 2020, Vera was awarded the Joachim Fontheim Prize for the Promotion of Young Artists.
During her time in Krefeld, besides working at the city theater, Vera quickly began exploring the local independent cultural scene, engaging in work primarily behind the camera. Thus, producing her own short films "Majnun", "we all live in", "Fortune Cookies" and a music video for "Meermenschen".
In 2017 Vera received her Bachelor Degree Of Arts in Acting at the HMDK Stuttgart, while simultaneously debuting as Anne Frank in the monodrama "Anne Frank - the diary of a young girl", which premiered at the Bad Vilbel Festival.
Early on in her career, Vera already became acquainted with the Film Academy BW, being an actress in several (short-)films and taking part in a screen acting workshop.
In between high school and university, Vera worked as an assistant director at the Schauspielbuehnen Stuttgart, the Theaterhaus Stuttgart e.V. and the ADK Ludwigsburg.
Vera M. Schmidt was born in Tuebingen and is now, after her many experiences, in the fortunate situation to be able to reconnect and rediscover Swabia with new eyes.
