Storyline

In this shocking and stylistically assured drama Cáit is faced with a terrible decision to make when she discovers her father in a near fatal farm accident. A gut-wrenching film from way out in the countryside, a place where the worst things are silenced.

About the film/director

Jamie O´Rourke is based in Dublin, Ireland. He studied Psychology before training and working as a film editor. He makes films that have a social realist grounding but always endeavour to be told cinematically. Irish stories with universal themes.
His first film as writer and director, Scrap, was nominated for an IFTA in 2022 and screened in competition at the 2023 Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival.
His second film, Calf, was commissioned and funded by Screen Ireland & Virgin Media. It is Oscar long-listed for 2025 after winning at Huesca IFF, won an IFTA in Apr 24, and has screened at Oscar qualifying festivals in Palm Springs, Melbourne, Busan SK, Brussels, Tampere, OFF Odense, InterFilm Berlin, St. Louis, Calgary International and at BAFTA festivals Aesthetica, London Short FF, Bolton, Indie Cork, Norwich, Bolton.
He has two more shorts due for release in 2025 and is currently in development on his first feature.
