Blutsschwestern

Storyline

Three friends set off for Italy in the middle of the night to revive a forgotten menstruation ritual. Their unusual plan: they want to bleed into the sea together at a bay near Rimini. What begins as a classic road movie turns out to be a humorous tale somewhere between documentary and fiction. “Blood Sisters” portrays the tense relationship between young women's self-expression, the desire for affirmation and the aspiration to live a feminist life.

About the film/director

Benita Martins, Hannah Rang and Runa Schymanski met while studying acting at the MUK, Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna.
Together with director Fritzi Wartenberg, they formed the FTZN collective in 2020. The two joint play developments were included in the repertoire of the Kosmos Theater Vienna, among others. Blood Sisters is the collective's first cinematic work.
