IStoryline

An der Saale hellem Strande deals with the memory of Delfin Guerra and Raúl Garcia Paret, two Cuban contract workers in the GDR who died in Merseburg in 1979. During a visual city tour, acoustic fragments from Stasi files, letters, and Facebook chats condense into a reflection on forms of memory and racist continuities.

About the film/director

Dirk Hornschuch:
Dirk Hornschuch is a director, writer, and visual artist from Erfurt/Thuriniga. His work moves at the intersection of documentary and fiction, experimenting with moving images, animation, and hybrid forms of storytelling. He is currently studying at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne.

Karl-Friedrich König:
Karl-Friedrich König is a film director, screenwriter, and producer based in Leipzig. Together with his brother Tilmann König he is currently in production of the film "The Great Collapse", due to be screened in cinemas in Summer 2026.
