Storyline

After a turning point in her life, Kerstin (Christina Grosse) returns to the place of her childhood. She puts the red DDR kayak into the water and begins a journey across the Mecklenburg Lake District. Between tourism and sadness, the kayak becomes a protective capsule for her—until one day she meets Alima (Pegah Ferydoni), who finally asks the paddling loner the right questions.

This place means nothing to Alima. The constant paddling, the tranquillity of nature and the lack of a radio network are nothing but a burden to her. Kerstin, who is as stoic as she is vulnerable, is a welcome change, so the different women continue their journey together. But gradually, with Sören (Niklas Wetzel), Thomas (Karsten Antonio Mielke) and Nina (Milena Dreissig), Kerstin's past creeps in on the lake district and finally challenges her seclusion.
